THE WHARF

THE WHARF

The Wharf is a remarkable waterfront neighborhood that has established Washington, DC as a true waterfront city. Located along the Washington Channel of the Potomac River, the first phase of The Wharf opened in 2017. The second phase is scheduled to be substantially completed in October 2022, five years from the initial opening. At full build-out, the $3.6 billion, world-class, mixed-use neighborhood will feature more than 3.5 million square feet of development along a mile of Washington, DC’s Southwest waterfront stretching from the Municipal Fish Market to Fort McNair.

Retail

The District actively engaged community stakeholders for feedback on land usage, benchmarked best practices for mixed-use projects around the world, then laid out their vision:

The Wharf has 300,000 square feet of retail space, featuring more than 85 restaurants and retail shops.  Retail space across the entire neighborhood is 94% leased with Phase 1 over 99% leased and Phase 2 at 82% leased.  Since its opening in 2017, The Wharf has offered residents and visitors a wide variety of restaurant and dining options, from fast-casual eateries to nationally celebrated chefs, local ice cream spots, coffee shops, and more. The Wharf is home to 48 concepts local to the DC area and 21 minority-owned businesses. With a curated mix of shops and boutiques, from internationally known brands to local concepts, and a host of affordable dining options, there is truly something for everyone at The Wharf, including:
